We started off the season with a fun weekend Memorial Day Weekend.
Friday night's hayride kicked off followed by an ice cream social.
Saturday we geared up to learn how to make games from junk. We
made Mancala games from egg crates, duck tape, and beans. We also
made hovercrafts with old CD's, bottle tops & balloons and simple 'I
spy" games in a mason jar. Some really cool ideas. Soon
followed an old fashioned game of kick ball with at least 16 kids
playing. We topped it off with a watermelon eating contest tag
teaming it.
Sunday morning, finally a sunny day, everyone chipped in and
brought, made, and ate breakfast in the recreation hall -that was yummy.
Later after supper we played a fun game of candy bar bingo - everyone
was a winner.
I did take lots of pictures but seem to have lost my camera during the
weekend. So if you have seen a Sony digital camera in a black case
with lots of kids pics on it, please let me know.
FATHER'S DAY WEEKEND: What a blast we had this
weekend. Friday night's hayride was followed up by Oreo Cookies
and Milk. How do you eat an Oreo? Then on Saturday afternoon we
had a neat competition for all ages. We had 5 teams show up for
the first run/bike competition, this was followed by a swimming across
from one shore to the other with a tube - safety was considered in
scoring this fun event. We played a water relay with the little
ones during the swim. Then we all headed up the to court for a
"tricycle pull" This was where the adult had to pull the kid in a
sled with a tricycle - it was funny. By the time we ended with our
final competition of fire building we had 9 teams (adult/kid). We
sure have a great time here at Parks Pond Campground.
Okay, then came Sunday morning - as Mike was getting out the Tug-O-War
rope the kids were planning an ambush to start the annual "get the
Dad's" waterfight, as usualy some moms got involved and everyone got
wet. I think the kids won, but it was close. If anyone got
any pictures of this weekend I would love to have some.

KIDS HAVE A SUPER FUN TIME ALL WEEKEND IN THE BOUNCY HOUSE!!!
Paul

CARNIVAL 2008 was a fun time for all. Crafts included a yarn
octopus and pom pom bug, along with face painting and heart painting.
Then the super fun began with the bouncy house going up, pie in the face
was a huge hit, water gun shoot out (the flame), some toss games, cheese
ball throw, tic, tac, toe and colored balls in the pool. We ended
with the infamous waterslide, always a favorite at Parks Pond
Campground.

4TH OF JULY - what a fun time we had all weekend. Friday, 8 water
vessels gathered at the boat landing and hiked around the pond, we
spotted 2 loons and all got a sunburn, it was worth it!! Emily made
"dirt cups" and a couple of crafts with the younger ones in the rec
hall. Later that day Mike dug out the waterslide and we had
slushes, we topped it off the day with a triple hayride (we had to load
the wagon 3 times to get everyone a ride) and fresh strawberries and
whipped cream dessert. Saturday we kicked off the am with dancing
on the court with the little ones and learning "The Hustle" with the
older folks - we were gearing up for the dance on the court later on
that night. The parade was awesome as you can see in
the pictures. Everyone joined in the decorating bikes and wagons
and trucks, then we were off around the campground - we sure do have a
lot of fun at PPC. We rested up in the afternoon for the country
dance Saturday night - I think over 100 folks turned out to "shake a
leg" with us. A great time was had by all us sunburnt souls and
everyone was tired from having so much fun.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY - What fun we had this weekend. Santa & Mrs.
Claus swung by Saturday evening, we weren't really sure if they were
going to have time. All the kids got to see them as they also took
a stroll around the campground handing out candy canes in the
summertime. Saturday we made our annual Gingerbread houses, it was
so hot outside the rec. hall proved to be the place to be at this day.
We also made several "box" snowmen - they don't melt we found out,
but they do wither when it rains. Then in the afternoon the
Bragdon's headed up some really fun games there were more than 15 kids
by the time it was time to waterslide and have hot cocoa. Sunday
morning all the kids and their family gathered around the Christmas tree
for presents followed by the huge breakfast of homefries, biscuits and
gravy, bacon, sausage, eggs, watermelon, and more - thanks to everyone
who helped chop, cook, donate, clean up and more. Our campground
is so much fun.
ANNUAL 50'S DANCE was a huge success. We were quite concerned with
the weather forecast so up went the big top (Thanks Tony & Judy).
It turned out to be beautiful and sunny by evening. We strung
lights from one end to the other under the tent and as we finished our
chicken/potluck barbeque dinner the kids taught swing dance lessons to a
few folks who were willing to learn. We played everything from
Elvis to Hank Williams - a super fun time was had by all and some
dressed for the occasion. Here are some pictures to share.

Josh & Jacob get down! A willing couple

Puddle jumpin is the best here at Parks Pond Campground - everyone's lot

Girl Scout Troop 114 Eddington/Clifton hosted our annual "Ladies Spa
Night" on Saturday, Aug. 2. Several ladies turned out to make lip
gloss, bath salts, get a massage from professional massage therapist
Nikki Look and her assistant Tracy, have your nails done, and facials.
A super fun time was had by all the girls. The donations for this
fun night will go toward the Troop's upcoming trip to R.I. Have
fun girls.
HALLOWEEN WAS GREAT!!! The haunted forest was fantastic - thanks
to the crew for helping scare the heck out of everyone who passed
through. The funeral for the Vampire, the skeleton's making
s'mores, the witches brewing up something (they kept asking for toes,
ewey), the graveyard and zombie, the dementors, the torture chamber was
horrible and of course the infamous chainsaw guy. We all had great
fun doing it and we hope you all had fun being scared. Saturday we
made SLIME, so great batches for everyone to take home, pumpkin
decorations and a rope, candle bottle craft. Then it was time for
some fun games finishing up with the ever popular waterslide.
Saturday evening the campground was crawling with all sorts of ghouls,
goblins, princesses, marshmellow and graham crackers looking for Mr.
Hershey bar LOL. The kids had a great time trick or treatin and
all had a belly ache by the end of the night.
ANNUAL PIG ROAST/POTLUCK SUPPER - Everyone in the campground turned out
for this one. In the evening Becky Pelkey stirred things up with
Karaoke - there were some fantastic stars performing - all enjoyed the
entertainment.

Mike & John vs. Michelle & Scott in the basketball tourney
LABOR DAY WEEKEND - Our last hurrah here at PPC. Friday night's
hayride was followed by yummy blueberry cobbler made in the dutch ovens.
It was great, Mike - you WIN!!! Saturday morning us girls learned
2 new line dances and got a great workout doing all we have learned this
summer. Please keep going this winter and check the schedule at
www.backdoordance.com in Eddington for more line dancing. In the
afternoon, kids young and old got together for a 2 on 2 basketball
tournament. Mike and John won this year - was Mike keeping score
again???? Saturday night a bunch of us fools rocked the night away
to Classic Rock, what fun we have at PPC. Sunday, Kathy and Lisa
were the lucky winners of Cribbage, Timmy and David were winners of the
Horseshoes. A super turnout for our Annual Dutch Oven cookoff - 10
dishes were entered and it was a close race. There was beef stews,
enchilada's, meatloaf, apple crisp, chocolate cake, cinnamon rolls, and
beanhole beans. Very tasty and a treat for all.
